Miguel Gonzalez-VelezMiguel Gonzalez-Velez, MD, is a Melanoma and Sarcoma Physician with the Dignity Health – Cancer Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center.

Dr. Gonzalez Velez’ expertise includes cutaneous malignancies, and sarcomas. He regularly takes care of patients with malignant melanoma, squamous, basal and merkel cell carcinomas, and soft tissue sarcomas He is board certified in Internal Medicine and board eligible in Hematology and Oncology. Dr Gonzalez Velez is a member of the American Society of Hematology (ASH), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and American College of Physicians (ACP).

Dr. Gonzalez Velez received his medical degree from CES University in Medellín, Colombia, and he completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at Rutgers University. He went on to complete his Hematology-Oncology fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona where he worked as a Chief Fellow his final year. After completing his training he started his faculty position as an associate professor at Creighton University.

Dr. Gonzalez Velez has published extensively and participates in research and education with Internal Medicine residents and medical school students. He also participates in research trials. He has a special interest in healthcare disparities, immunotherapy and real world data.
