Are you at risk for heart disease?

Participate in a new research study to learn if you are at risk for heart disease.

What is the purpose of the study?

The purpose of this free study is to confirm the genetic risk score as a screening test for prevention of coronary artery disease, as this is the cause of chest pain, heart attacks and cardiac death.

What is genetic testing?
Identifying genetic risks for cardiovascular diseases may lead to personalized treatment and better outcomes. Because inherited heart conditions can run in families, your results can help your family members identify underlying conditions for proactive care.

Who can take part?

  • Males and females 40 years of age and older
  • No known heart disease
  • Willing and able to sign an Informed Consent Form

Why do testing?

  • Coronary Artery Disease is an epidemic—the most common cause of death in the world.
  • An American has a 50% chance of experiencing a cardiac event during a normal lifespan.
  • Genetic risk for CAD is preventable.
  • There is no cost to participate.

How does the study work?

  • Simple blood or saliva collection
  • You and the study doctor discuss results
  • Identifying heart health risk may lead to treatment sooner

How long will I participate in the study?

  • The study is 10 years long.
  • The first visit will be completed in person with another follow up visit to receive results.
  • The rest of the visits are completed once a year (check-in) via an email link, by mail or phone call.

Participating in research is a choice.

Joining a research study is an important personal decision. Before you join, research staff will talk with you about the study and any possible risks and benefits. They will also explain the rules they follow to protect your safety and privacy. You may ask the research staff to explain the study procedure(s) if you don’t understand or have questions. You should not feel pressured or rushed to make a decision. Being part of a research study is completely voluntary. After you understand the study, if you decide to take part you will be asked to sign a document called an Informed Consent Form. You can change your mind at any time, for any reason, even after you sign.
