Chandler Regional Medical Center receives top teaching award

Leapfrog Group cites commitment to safety and quality

(CHANDLER, Ariz. - Dec. 16, 2025)  – Dignity Health Chandler Regional Medical Center has been named a Top Teaching Hospital by The Leapfrog Group – one of the most competitive honors that hospitals and surgery centers in the U.S. can receive for their commitment to safety and quality.

"We are immensely proud to be recognized as a leading teaching hospital,” said  Dr. Mario Garner, President of Dignity Health East Valley. “This honor reflects our unwavering commitment to cultivating the next generation of physicians, empowering them with advanced tools, technologies, and facilities, all within a foundation of humankindness. Our ultimate goal is to nurture highly skilled clinicians right here in our community."

Chandler Regional is one of the local teaching hospitals for graduate medical education students through the Creighton University East Valley Arizona program. Residencies offered at Dignity Health Chandler Regional Medical Center include emergency medicine, family medicine, general surgery, internal medicine and OBGYN.

More than 2,400 U.S. hospitals were considered for the award. A total of 156 Top Hospitals were selected, including 73 Top Teaching Hospitals.

The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit watchdog organization that rates hospitals and ASCs on how well they protect patients from preventable harm, including accidents, injuries and infections. The Leapfrog Top Hospital award is given to teaching, general, rural and children's hospitals that publicly report their performance through the Leapfrog Hospital Survey and meet the high standards defined in the Top Hospitals methodology. This includes infection rates, maternity care and a hospital’s ability to prevent medication errors, among other standards.
