Dignity Health Names Douglas Watson CFO for Arizona Service Area

Dignity Health's Arizona service area has named Douglas Watson, as its chief financial officer. In his role, Watson will be responsible for the organization's financial goals, overseeing the budgeting process, and helping grow services and partnerships.

Watson is a Certified Public Accountant and previously served as the chief financial officer (CFO) for PeaceHealth Medical Group, the ambulatory services division of PeaceHealth, an integrated health care system headquartered in Vancouver, Wash., with operations in Alaska, Oregon, and Washington. While in this position, he successfully transformed the group’s finance structure, and significantly improved its financial performance.

In addition to serving as the ambulatory division CFO with PeaceHealth, Watson was the chief operating officer for several years building a unified group culture and strategy across the three state service area. Prior to this, Watson served as a strategy and finance partner in several health care management consulting firms including The DW Financial Group and ECG Management Consultants; as well as the international consulting firms of Capgemini Ernst & Young, and Arthur Andersen. Watson also was Chairman of The Board of Providence Senior and Community Services, a division of Providence St. Joseph Health.

Dignity Health’s Arizona service area includes five hospitals – Chandler Regional Medical Center, Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, which includes Barrow Neurological Institute, St. Joseph's Westgate Hospital and Arizona General Hospital. From this foundation, Dignity Health’s Arizona service area has expanded into a comprehensive health care system, which includes imaging centers, clinics, specialty hospitals, urgent care centers, insurance providers, an accountable care organization, a medical group and other clinical partnerships. Dignity Health’s Arizona service area is part of Dignity Health, one of the nation’s largest health care systems.
