Dr. Thomas Gillespie, MD, FACS, a Columbia University-trained and board-certified surgeon, brings exceptional expertise to hernia care as the Director of the Hernia Institute at Dignity Health. He is the first in Arizona to be designated a Hernia and Robotic Surgeon of Excellence. Dr. Gillespie believes in a patient-centered approach, using evidence-based strategies to optimize each patient's health and create personalized treatment plans. He welcomes consultations and values open communication.
He also holds professorships at Creighton University School of Medicine and the University of Arizona School of Medicine. Since completing his surgical residency at Maricopa Medical Center, he has practiced surgery in Phoenix since 2001, specializing in all aspects of hernia surgery at Saint Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center since 2003, where he has performed thousands of repairs.
