Highland Hospital opened its doors to the community in 1927, and has always provided an assured source of care for all Alameda County residents, regardless of ability to pay. Highland Hospital complies with California and Federal standards for acute care hospitals. In 2006 the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) renewed its accreditation of Highland and ACMC's other hospital campuses for a period of three years.
