Mark Twain Medical Center cancels Health Fair

SAN ANDREAS, CA – September 1, 2020 - Social distancing protocols prevents Mark Twain Medical Center from hosting its traditional 600 + attendees during the Annual Fall Health Fair. However, the $45 blood analysis screening which hundreds of local residents always take advantage of at the event are still be available – by appointment over the next few weeks.

Call (209) 897-0003 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to make your appointment.

“Flexibility is the key to meeting health and wellness needs in challenging times,” says Doug Archer, MTMC President and CEO. “We miss being able to greet friends and neighbors at the Health Fair – and enjoy the delicious Carmen’s Cafe breakfast – but we are still dedicated to providing services so many have come to rely upon. We’re just doing it in new ways.”

Over the years, low-cost blood analysis screening has been one of the most popular features at MTMC Health Fairs. It includes a chemistry panel, thyroid, complete blood count, lipid panel, iron for women, PSA for men, and vitamin D deficiencies. MTMC provides the screening at a cost of just $45 at the Health Fair – by appointment.

Archer notes, “Another important Health Fair element is the gathering of local health and wellness resources in one place. Over 50 community partners usually are on-hand to interact with community members.”

“Though we cannot bring everyone together in the traditional Health Fair setting, this year it’s more important than ever to for MTMC to help assure local residents have access to important community resources.”

He continues, “We are all keenly aware of the health and wellness impacts from self-isolation and worry during the COVID-19 crisis. We want people to know where to turn if they need help.”

“For the list of resources from our community partners that you would expect to see at the Heath Fair – health and wellness experts, nonprofit entities, and government agencies which collaborate in providing education, support services, lifestyle tools and numerous health and social services and support for seniors.” Please visit our website, or call 754-5919 and we will gladly mail you the information.

Be sure and check the MTMC webpage for the full-range of services provided at the hospital, our Family Medical Centers and Specialty Care Clinics.
