Intensive Care

When your loved one is in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), it can be a stressful time. Mark Twain Medical Center’s staff of highly trained doctors and critical care nurses provide top-of-the-line care and compassionate support during this challenging time. To find a doctor affiliated with Mark Twain Medical Center, please call 209.754.2602.

A Team of Caring Providers

About 80 percent of Americans will be involved with critical care services as a patient, family member, or friend during their lifetime.

The Mark Twain Medical Center ICU is licensed for six patients. Each patient has a private room that is in direct view of the Nurses' Station at all times. Each patient room has a full complement of medical equipment and monitors to ensure every patient has the best care possible

Our ICU nursing staff work very closely with the Medical Staff physicians to provide around-the-clock care to our most critical patients. The ICU Department has a Rapid Response Team (RRT), part of the National Patient Safety Goals, to provide immediate intervention and better outcomes for patients requiring additional attention. We provide collaborative and coordinated care specific to the patient’s needs.

Telehealth Brings Specialists To Our Patients

When the need occurs, a Telehealth communications unit can allow your healthcare team to consult via video and computer with a highly trained specialist in Sacramento, and you get the most up-to-date treatments. You will still have a hospitalist at Mark Twain Medical Center that will provide your care.

  • For our Intensive Care patients, Telehealth sessions can help provide prompt and accurate diagnosis and evaluation of medical conditions.
  • Telehealth allows prompt stroke diagnosis and treatment without having to leave the hospital. With a stroke, every second counts.
