Angels Camp Physician Assistant Gabriella Hawkins Joins Mark Twain Medical Center Team

ANGELS CAMP, CA — March 25, 2026 — Gabriella Hawkins, a Physician Assistant based in Angels Camp, has joined the clinical team at Mark Twain Medical Center, bringing advanced medical training and a deep personal commitment to serving her home community in Calaveras County. Raised in the region, Hawkins represents a new generation of healthcare professionals dedicated to improving access to high-quality care across the Sierra foothills.

Hawkins earned a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from A.T. Still University in Mesa, Arizona, in September 2025. She previously received a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara in March 2021, where she developed a strong foundation in the biological and behavioral sciences that continues to inform her patient-centered approach to care.

During her graduate training, Hawkins completed extensive clinical rotations across multiple specialties, preparing her to diagnose and treat patients across the lifespan. Her experience in internal and family medicine includes managing chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension, conducting annual physical examinations, and supporting medication management. In pediatrics, she performed well-child visits and administered routine childhood immunizations. Her women’s health training includes performing Pap smears and breast examinations, as well as assisting with prenatal care and contraceptive management. In emergency medicine settings, Hawkins evaluated acute medical presentations, performed minor procedures such as laceration repair and splinting, and interpreted electrocardiograms and laboratory findings.

Prior to entering PA school, Hawkins worked as a Care Coordinator and Medication Technician at Foothill Village Senior Living from March 2021 through May 2023. In that role, she coordinated individualized care plans, managed medication systems, and supported residents living with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and end-of-life needs, gaining valuable experience in compassionate, multidisciplinary care.

Hawkins holds multiple healthcare certifications, including Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Buprenorphine training, Verbal Intervention, Mental Health First Aid, intrauterine device training, and Stop the Bleed. She is NPI licensed and NCCPA certified after successfully completing the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination. She is also a member of several national professional organizations, including the American Academy of Physician Associates, Physician

Assistants in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, the Society of Physician Assistants in Family Medicine, and the Association of Physician Assistants in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

“Gabriella’s return to serve the community where she was raised reflects exactly the kind of dedication we value at Mark Twain Medical Center,” said Doug Archer, President and CEO of Mark Twain Medical Center. “Her broad clinical training and commitment to patient-centered care will be an asset to our patients and our organization.”

As she begins her professional career, Hawkins looks forward to caring for individuals and families throughout Calaveras County, helping ensure that residents continue to receive high-quality, compassionate healthcare close to home.
