Dignity Health – Mercy Hospitals Bakersfield Achieves Milestone in Robotic Surgery Cases

Mercy Hospital’s S.A. Camp Companies Robotic Surgical Center performs 2000 surgeries as Kern County’s premiere Center of Excellence for minimally-invasive robotic procedures


Bakersfield, CA, July 20, 2023 - The S.A. Camp Companies Robotic Surgical Center at Mercy Hospitals Bakersfield is proud to announce that it has reached over 2,000 minimally invasive robotic surgery cases in less than 5 years, earning the Centers of Excellence distinction.  All robotic surgical procedures are performed using the da Vinci® Xi Robotic Surgery System, an advanced robotic-assisted surgery system used by highly trained and specialized surgeons.

We help our patients get back to their lives sooner and safely through minimally invasive +robotic surgery procedures” said Dr. Lorenc Malellari, Colorectal Surgeon and Medical Director of the S.A. Camp Companies Robotic Surgical Center. “We have a highly experienced team of surgeons and clinicians who perform these procedures daily and their continuous work has allowed us to reach this accomplishment.” 

Mercy Hospitals have achieved five Centers of Excellence Accreditations in the following fields:

These national accreditations from the Surgical Review Corporation recognize the hospitals’ achievements in providing the highest quality of care and meeting nationally and internationally recognized standards.
