Welcome

Welcome to Marian Regional Medical Center's (marian) residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology. This ACGME- accredited program is designed to offer a rich and rewarding educational experience that will prepare you to be a knowledgeable and skilled women's health care physician. There are three residents per year, for a total of twelve residents within the program. We pay careful attention to the resident experience, with emphasis on the clinical learning environment, resident well-being, and preparedness for independent practice. Our program faculty are dedicated to promoting a stimulating and supportive learning environment and residency experience.

The program is centered at Marian Regional Medical Center (MRMC). MRMC is a 191-bed regional medical center. (For more detail on the hospital, click on the link in the navigation menu on the left.) With about 3,000 births each year, MRMC serves a wide spectrum of patients, ranging from migrant farmer workers, military families, and owners of large estate vineyards. The hospital has nine state-of- the-art surgical facilities, a 21-bed neonatal intensive care unit, and is a Level II trauma center. Integrated into the hospital is the cutting-edge simulation lab with high-fidelity manikins for health care professionals of all disciplines to utilize, and our residency program has state of the art surgical and obstetric simulation equipment which is integrated into the formal curriculum. For a complete outline of the curriculum, click on the link in the navigation menu on the left. The hospital also serves as a teaching site for the Marian Family Medicine Residency Program and has third and fourth-year medical students from a variety of locations.

The OB/GYN Residency Program has flourished and the program is now at a crucial point where there is a need to grow by opening a standalone OB/GYN Residency Program Clinic. The new 8,700-square-foot clinic will provide women’s health care services to a diverse and medically vulnerable patient population. A significant benefit of the clinic will be the addition of translators in Spanish and Mixteco languages. Marian has secured the leased office location for the new OB/GYN Residency Program Clinic and is moving forward with architectural plans, construction, and purchasing capital equipment. Construction on Marian’s OB/GYN Residency Program Clinic is planned to begin this year.
