Welcome to the website for Marian Regional Medical Center’s (Marian) residency program in obstetrics and gynecology. This newly ACGME-accredited program was designed to offer a rich and rewarding educational experience that will prepare you to be a knowledgeable and skilled women’s health care provider. There will be three residents at each postgraduate year. Careful attention to the resident experience has been given, and the residents will find program faculty and other health care professionals dedicated to promoting a stimulating learning environment and residency experience.

The program is centered at Marian Regional Medical Center (MRMC). MRMC is a 191-bed regional medical center. (For more detail on the hospital, click on the link in the navigation menu on the left.) With about 3,000 births each year, MRMC serves a wide spectrum of patients, ranging from migrant farmer workers, military families, and owners of large estate vineyards. The hospital has nine state-of- the-art surgical facilities, a 21-bed neonatal intensive care unit, and is a Level II trauma center. Integrated into the hospital is the cutting-edge simulation lab with high-fidelity manikins for health care professionals of all disciplines to utilize. For a complete outline of the curriculum, click on the link in the navigation menu on the left. The hospital also serves as a teaching site for the Marian Family Medicine Residency Program and has third and fourth-year medical students from a variety of locations.

The OB/GYN Residency Program has flourished over the past four years, and the program is now at a crucial point where there is a need to grow by opening a standalone OB/GYN Residency Program Clinic. The new 8,700-square-foot clinic will provide women’s health care services to a vastly diverse and medically vulnerable patient population and a significant benefit of the clinic will be the addition of translators in Spanish and Mixteco languages. Marian has secured the leased office location for the new OB/GYN Residency Program Clinic and is moving forward with architectural plans, construction, and purchasing capital equipment. Construction on Marian’s OB/GYN Residency Program Clinic is planned to begin in 2024.

To further Dignity Health’s mission of delivering compassionate, patient-centered health care, the Dignity Health Foundation raises vital funds to increase awareness and boldly address specific health issues in the communities where Dignity Health facilities are located. One of the Foundation's initiatives currently focuses on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Maternal mood disorders not only affect moms and their babies, they have adverse effects on entire families. Dignity Health is developing a Two-Generation Solution based on screening, education and service referrals, so that each generation can thrive. Marian Regional Medical Center has been part of the initial rollout of this initiative. Watch this video to catch a glimpse of the critical work being done to meet the needs of new mothers and their families at Marian Regional Medical Center.

Located in a place where people come for vacation, Marian is in northern Santa Barbara County where beaches, outdoor activities like hiking and cycling, and wine country beckon. For more information on the Central Coast, click on the link in the navigation menu on the left.
