September is a great time to focus on starting better health practices.
REDDING, CA – September 7, 2017 - September is Healthy Aging Month and a great time to get started on better health practices. Did you know that in the United States, prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men; regardless of ethnicity or race? One of the best practices for dealing with prostate cancer is preventative care and exams. Join Dignity Health and Mercy Medical Center Redding for a free Men's Prostate Screening Event on Thursday, September, 21st.

According to Dr. Patrick Fowler, MD, at Dignity Health, "Early detection remains the cornerstone of the successful treatment of prostate cancer. Patients who come to the prostate screening event are examined by experienced specialists in the field and given expert advice.” Dr. Fowler continued, “It is particularly beneficial to individuals who might not otherwise have access to the medical system.”

September is a great time to focus on starting better health practices since it is the time of year that many focus on starting new tasks after the summer, with the "back to school" urge we have all felt since childhood. Start this fall off by attending the Men's Prostate Screening Event on Thursday, September, 21. The free event will run from 6-8 p.m. at Mercy Family Health Center at 2480 Sonoma Street in Redding, CA. The screening will include a DRE (Digital Rectal Exam) and a PSA (Pathogen Specific Antigen Blood Test). Participants must be between 30-80 years of age to participate and will receive a free travel mug while supplies last. Space is limited, so please call (888) 628-1948 to register for the event and for more information.
