Guiding you through your cancer treatment

Having someone who can help you through your cancer journey, from diagnosis through treatment, is important. At the Mercy Redding Cancer Centers, our cancer navigators are available to focus on you, answering any questions and providing the support you need.

You are not alone when going through your cancer journey. Our team is here to help guide you through the entire process.

Here’s what you can expect from our cancer navigators:

  • Is specially trained in cancer care and is your personal coordinator and guide during diagnosis, treatment and recovery. The smoother hand-offs throughout your care can translate into fewer delays in treatment, improved communication between caregivers, and less confusion for you and your family.
  • Your navigator is here to help you with every aspect of your care whether you are at home or in the hospital.
  • Listens and coaches you and your family through important decisions, such as a variety of treatment, nutritional, financial, or social issues.
  • Navigators can help decrease ER visits associated with complications in care by identifying complications sooner and directing earlier interventions at the clinical level.
  • Teaches you and your family members to recognize and manage the side effects of cancer treatment.
  • Provides educational and community resources for you and your family including transportation, housing assistance, financial assistance, and/or support groups.
  • Helps you and your family understand your diagnosis plan of care in greater detail.

Setting the Standard in Treating Cancer

The Mercy Redding Cancer Centers sets the standard in the North State for comprehensive care for patients through applied research, education, prevention and early detection.

That’s why the American College of Surgeons has awarded the Mercy Redding Cancer Center its highest level of accreditation for comprehensive cancer programs for more than 30 years.

Diagnostic Tools

Mercy Medical Center Redding is leading the charge against lung cancer with the introduction of the Ion Robotic Lung Program.

As the only hospital north of Sacramento to Portland to offer this program, Mercy Medical Center Redding is now equipped with Realtime Cios Spin 3D-Cone beam CT technology – expanding access to cutting-edge technology in lung cancer detection. The Ion technology is a non-invasive approach that allows us to find and biopsy masses that were previously unreachable - allowing for early intervention and potentially life-saving treatments.

Getting Treatment

Oncologists that practice at the Mercy Redding Cancer Centers use a team approach to provide the finest quality of care.  A tumor board brings together radiologists, surgeons, pathologists, medical oncologists and radiation oncologists to examine each diagnosis, and strategize and plan the best treatment for each patient.

Treatment options include:

Infusion Services

The Infusion Center at the Mercy Redding Cancer Centers offers infusion services in a patient-friendly environment. Our center strives to offer the best experience possible under what can be difficult circumstances.

When you visit the our centers, you will be cared for by experienced, certified nurses who provide a warm, supportive environment while you receive your treatment.

Precision Oncology

At the Mercy Redding Cancer Centers, we believe every cancer journey is unique and deserves a tailored approach specific to each individual. Through a technique called precision oncology, we are able to do that. Precision oncology uses molecular profiling to target specific genetic alterations in a patient’s tumors. Oncologists then treat the cancer with focused, specialized therapies, instead of a technique such as chemotherapy which can harm cancerous and healthy cells. Learn More

Cancer Programs and Support

At the Mercy Redding Cancer Centers, we offer a number of programs to help you including early detection, support groups and, if necessary, hospice care.

The Floyd Morgan Family Cancer Resource Center and the Medical Library at our hospital offers you and your loved ones a place to get the support you need, providing printed and online information about treatment and rehabilitation options.

It is also the location for support groups, classes, workshops, coordination of community cancer screenings and education, and a space to meet with the Oncology Nurse Liaison (ONL). The ONL is a Registered Nurse with expertise in cancer nursing and provides education, navigation and support at any point during the cancer journey.
