Dignity Health North State Hospitals grants $350,500 to local non-profit agencies

REDDING, Calif. (February 13, 2023) - Through the Community Grants Program, Dignity Health North State Hospitals – Mercy Medical Center Redding, St. Elizabeth Community Hospital and Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta are able to partner with other non-profit organizations who are working to improve the health status and build a stronger more equitable future for the communities we serve. Each hospital recognized the following organizations with grants, as each leveraged the power of collaboration in their communities to offer comprehensive assistance to those in need.

Mercy Medical Center Redding (MMCR) granted $250,000 to three non-profit organizations that support Mercy’s vision and values:

  • Children’s Legacy Center received funds to establish robust services, clarity within system navigation, and increase collaboration amongst entities to provide comprehensive care to children and families.

  • Empire Recovery Center received funds to pilot the “Transitioning Recovery with Coaching: From Treatment to Sober Living” project to address major obstacles to successful living in the recovery community.

  • FaithWorks Community Coalition received funds to launch and operate walk-in hours for homeless families and veterans to access Shasta County Coordinated Entry for assessment and connection to services.

  • The Northern California Center for Family Awareness – Kids’ Turn received funds to provide nine hours of evidence-based curriculum focused on families suffering parental separation. Each workshop will serve between 50 to 70 family members through at least five separate groups. This project will serve Shasta County families and sessions will be co-led by master’s level therapists and credentialed teachers.

  • Pathways to Hope for Children received funds to support Camp Hope. Youth exposed to child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault will have a dedicated Youth Champion, a weeklong camping program, monthly mentoring opportunities, daily interaction at the Anderson Teen Center and in-home case management for the entire family.

  • Family Counseling Center received funds to increase accessibility to professional counseling for Latino individuals with a Spanish speaking therapist.
