Our Community

The City of Redding is the hub of the far North State for commerce, government, medical care and most other needs. The population of more than 88,000 enjoys a treasure of recreational activities, both discovered and undiscovered.

Redding’s Metro Area serves over 200,000 people, offering four seasons with relatively mild winters seeing snow every couple of years.  The spring and fall are beautiful with temperatures in the mid 70s.  The community comes to life during these seasons with festivals, outdoor events and family fun activities.  Redding summers are warm, averaging over 100 degrees at times.  The heat is a dry heat but the fresh water lakes and the Sacramento River that runs through the area helps cool residents down.

With the backdrop of beautiful Mount Shasta to the north, Mount Lassen to the East, and the Trinity Alps to the west, Redding is an exceptional place to live.  Our location offers all the best of California with easy access to Sacramento, the Gold Country and San Francisco and a low cost of living. Ashland, Oregon, home of the Shakespeare festival, is an easy drive to the north.  For the outdoors type there is fishing, skiing, hiking, biking, and great running trails.

Culturally, Redding hosts the Turtle Bay Exploration Park, the restored Cascade Theatre, Riverfront Playhouse, great restaurants and the Sundial Bridge. Designed by world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava, the bridge has gained international attention.  Its beauty comes from its aqua green, opaque glass deck, strips of granite, and smooth, white imported Spanish tile. The 217-foot pylon acts as a sundial.

Redding hosts a great summer event called MarketFest with a variety of live bands, arts and crafts, and a farmers market, which is sponsored by Mercy Medical Center Redding.

The Redding Convention Center is a large venue that hosts a Best of Broadway series and visits from well-know artists throughout the year.
