RN New Graduate Residency Program

Why the Mercy Medical Center Redding Rock Solid RN New Graduate Residency Program?

Mercy Medical Center’s Rock Solid Nurse Residency Program provides up to 16 weeks of in-depth, evidence-based training. This is not a repeat of nursing school. This is an intense, focused program with content created to prepare you for delivery of excellent patient care in your chosen field of nursing. Didactic content partnered with one-on-one preceptor-led training will provide meaningful learning experiences by subject matter experts. You will be given the opportunity to walk in the shoes of other clinical departments to understand their role in the care of your patients; such as Respiratory, Pharmacy, Lab, Physical Therapy, Wound nurse, Radiology and much more, in order to better collaborate in the care of your patient. Our program sets the new graduate nurse up for success in a rewarding career at Mercy Medical Center Redding.

Making Your Professional Goals Happen

This transition-to-practice program is for the new graduate registered nurse (RN).  Since its inception in 2011, the goal of the program has been to move the new graduate RN from the novice new nurse to the confident, competent, well-equipped nurse within their specialty. We accomplish this by implementing progressive independence in the clinical areas with expert preceptor role modeling and at the elbow. Our nurses are a dedicated group of professionals who possess a personal sense of commitment and responsibility to providing care that facilitates health and healing. We embrace the concept that each patient and his or her family have a unique background and individual needs.
