Nutrition Resources

Our Mission
is to provide delicious, wholesome meals developed through continuous improvement, applying best practices and of course, driven by evidence based clinical nutrition care.  Through our continued focus and pursuit to care for our patients, we believe we are better able to nourish those we serve.

Patient Diets are prescribed by the physician or provider based on nutrition diagnosis.

Scheduled Meal Service Times give patients the option of enjoying comforting foods specific to their diet without having to place an order.

Patients Can Place Custom Meal Orders by calling the diet office. Our clerks can assist you in finding items that you may prefer and that are aligned to your prescribed diet. Meal requests must be submitted by 5:30 a.m. for breakfast, 10:30 a.m. for lunch and 3:30 p.m. for dinner. Should additional assistance be needed to place an order at the bedside, please use your provided call button. The diet office number is listed in the patient menu, as well as below.

  • When calling from your room phone dial 256279
  • When using a cell phone (530-255-6279)

Patient FAQ

Patients prescribed an NPO diet, which means “nothing by mouth”, are typically in preparation for a medical procedure or because the healthcare provider has determined it is not safe for you to eat.

Your provider may assign a special diet to you to optimize your health. This could mean that certain nutrients or amounts of nutrients are restricted.  Foods that contain components you are allergic to may also be restricted.

At MMCR we serve a large patient and retail population, so we serve foods and meals that appeal to a wide variety of preferences. Unfortunately, to ensure success, we can’t modify recipes.

Should a guest tray be needed, please let your care provider know and they will make the appropriate arrangements.  Guests can also place a meal order at the same time the patient places their order by calling 256279 or (530-225-6279).

Due to the potential for foodborne illness or contamination, family and guests of patients are strongly discouraged from bringing foods from home or from an outside source.  Common-spirit will not be held liable for adherence to the provider-ordered diet if food is brought in from a source outside the facility.

If you are experiencing menu fatigue, please request a visit from a nutrition representative to help you navigate your meal options.

At MMCR we plate our trays with pride.  Sometimes an order exceeds the area of a plate, when encountered we will use an additional tray.

You can order non-perishable snacks on your meal trays to save for later. You can ask your nurse for a snack from the pantry as long as your diet order allows.

If you are interested in nutrition counseling, have questions about your food intake, or diet, please let your nurse or doctor know and they can request a visit from a dietitian.
