Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center Celebrates Opening of State-of-the-Art Biplane Imaging Suite to Advance Stroke and Neurovascular Care
Carmichael, Calif. (October 22, 2025) – Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center celebrated today the grand opening of its new Neuro-Interventional Suite, marking a major milestone in the hospital’s commitment to advancing stroke and neurovascular care in the Greater Sacramento region.
The newly renovated $12.9 million suite features a Canon biplane imaging system, offering real-time, high-resolution views of the brain and blood vessels from multiple angles. This cutting-edge technology allows physicians to perform faster, safer, and more precise interventions for patients experiencing stroke and other complex neurological conditions.
“The opening of this neuro-interventional suite represents our continued investment in the health and future of our community,” said Austin Manning, President and CEO of Mercy San Juan Medical Center. “As the region’s first certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, this new suite emphasizes our commitment to providing the most advanced neurovascular care available. ”
This project completed by Layton Construction and designed by Cunningham Architects features the new Neuro-interventional Suite, a staff lounge, patient changing area and support rooms for staff.
“This new imaging suite enables us to treat more patients with the very best care across the Greater Sacramento region and beyond – with even greater speed and precision," said James Barone, Director of Imaging at Mercy San Juan Medical Center. “This advanced technology strengthens our ability to deliver life-saving neurovascular care and improve outcomes for our patients with complex neurological conditions."
Mercy San Juan is one of three Comprehensive Stroke Centers for Dignity Health in California and the first hospital in the Greater Sacramento Market to receive this designation from The Joint Commission.
