Medical Director Discusses New Developments in Lung Cancer Treatment

Dr. Costanzo DiPerna of Dignity Health Cancer Institute says treatment is more effective with early detection, new medications and more research.

Costanzo DiPerna, MD, thoracic surgeon and medical director at the Dignity Health Cancer Institute, discussed lung cancer screening and treatment on April 28, 2016 on Insight, a daily, in-depth interview program on Capital Public Radio.

Dr. DiPerna joined Bonnie Addario, a stage IIIB lung cancer survivor and founder of the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation (ALCF), to talk about  “Your Next Step is the Cure” 5K event on Saturday, April 30, at North Natomas Regional Park.  This event will help raise much-needed funds for ALCF patient services and innovative clinical research projects with the goal to eradicate lung cancer through early detection, education, research and treatment.

The ALCF recently awarded Mercy San Juan Medical Center the official designation as a Community Hospital Center of Excellence, for its individualized care and treatment of lung cancer patients.
