Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center and AlphaOne to Unveil NICU Ambulance to Enhance Patient Care

Sacramento, Calif. (June 25, 2024) –  Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center (MSJMC) and AlphaOne unveiled a specialized NICU ambulance during a special blessing ceremony that took place on Monday, June 24. This innovative transport vehicle marks a significant advancement in MSJMC's ability to provide seamless, high-quality care to its neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) patients.

The new co-branded ambulance rig features dedicated EMS staff onsite 24/7, ensuring immediate and expert response for NICU transports. This initiative will enhance MSJMC’s operational efficiency, significantly reducing response times and ensuring timely access to critical care for newborns and their families.

"This partnership with AlphaOne and the introduction of our dedicated NICU ambulance represent a major milestone in our ongoing commitment to elevate Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit services," said Michael Korpiel, President and CEO of MSJMC. "With this new transport model and our incredible NICU team members, we reaffirm our dedication to providing the highest level of expertise and care to our community."

In 2020, MSJMC completed a $35 million expansion of its Level III NICU, resulting in the state-of-the-art Robert S. and Star Pepper Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This facility is renowned for its advanced technology and family-centric amenities.

The blessing ceremony underscored the collaborative efforts of Dignity Health MSJMC, and AlphaOne in advancing healthcare delivery and ensuring the well-being of patients.

“We are honored that AlphaOne Ambulance was selected to collaborate with MSJ leadership and their NICU team

to create such an exceptional level of specialized ambulance services for these delicate babies,” said Tom Arjil, CEO and President of AlphaOne Ambulance Medical Services. “Our specialty trained EMT’s are grateful to have been selected to work with these highly trained compassionate NICU-Nurses and physicians that will make a difference to these precious newborns in the communities we serve.”
