New moms are treated to relaxation after childbirth to help them feel prepared and renewed for the journey of motherhood.

Dignity Health Mercy Hospital of Folsom, in partnership with Serenity Spa and Soul Yoga, today announced the launch of its Spa Service Package in its Family Birth Center. The Spa Service Package provides multiple touch-therapy options – including reflexology, various targeted massages and aromatherapy – to mothers staying at the hospital following the birth of a child.

“Giving birth to a child is a wonderful, but also physically and emotionally draining experience,” said Kristi Svee-Stranberg, director of the Mercy Hospital of Folsom Family Birth Center. “At Mercy Hospital of Folsom, we are doing all that we can to provide the mothers who give birth here with a unique, personal and restorative experience. We want our new moms to experience true relaxation so they can feel prepared and renewed for the journey they have started with their new baby.

This is the latest in a series of service offerings that Mercy Hospital of Folsom is providing to patients in its Family Birth Center. Mercy Hospital of Folsom’s Family Birth Center features priority parking for expectant mothers, all private rooms, free WiFi, an iPod docking station in each room, an extensive DVD library and an organic spa kit for mothers to take home after being discharged from the hospital. Mercy Hospital of Folsom provides mothers with a music therapist upon request and has an exclusive contract with Bella Baby, a local, photojournalist-style photographer, which provides a free photo session for each baby born at Mercy Folsom. Now, with the addition of the Spa Service Package, mothers giving birth at Mercy Hospital of Folsom are gifted 20 minutes of aromatherapy, steam restoration or healing touch – including massage on their hands, feet, neck, shoulders or scalp.

“We are happy to partner with Mercy Hospital of Folsom to honor and cherish women who have just given birth,” said Tammie Fairchild of Serenity Spa and Soul Yoga. “By bringing together the power of modern medicine and the healing power of touch, we can help provide a sense of caring calm for women whose lives have been gloriously changed forever.
