The Alex G. Spanos Heart & Vascular Center is built upon the legacy of compassionate care established by the Sisters of Mercy, who have faithfully served the Sacramento community’s health care needs since 1895. More than 500 generous grateful patients, their families, and community members contributed through Mercy Foundation to make the Alex G. Spanos Heart & Vascular Center a reality. Stockton businessman, philanthropist and Mercy General Hospital grateful patient Alex G. Spanos and his wife, Faye, made a substantial lead gift, an important catalyst for philanthropic giving. 

Mercy General Hospital, at its current site since 1925, is today a premier destination for cardiovascular services with a long list of accolades. The opening of the Alex G. Spanos Center expanded our integrated care model, added capacity, increased efficiency and provides optimal comfort for patients and family, with features including:
