Goals of Neurocritical Care

In addition to working closely with other specialists to coordinate the best possible care for you, the neurocritical care doctor also provides neurological monitoring, such as intracranial pressure monitoring (ICP), electromyography and EEG. The ultimate goal of neurocritical care is to:

  • Resuscitate and support the acutely ill neurological patient
  • Minimize secondary neurological injury and medical complications
  • Facilitate the patient's transition to a recovery environment
