Robert Beart MD of Colorectal Surgery Institute at Glendale Memorial Receives Two Honors

The Colorectal Surgery Institute at Dignity Health Glendale Memorial Hospital (CSI) renames its Annual Education Symposia: The Robert W. Beart, M.D. Symposia for the Advancement of Colorectal Care. Additionally, on May 3rd, The American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) will confer the 2016 Master of Surgery on Dr. Beart during their Annual Scientific Meeting at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

For nearly 40 years, Dr. Beart has dedicated his professional career to research and the advancement of treatment for colorectal disease. He is internationally renowned for his research contributions, authoring 300 journal articles on a wide range of colorectal topics – including cancers, surgical procedures, and various medical therapies, as well as authoring chapters and papers for multiple other publications.

Among his many esteemed accomplishments, Dr. Beart has served as The University of Southern California (USC) Professor and Chairman, Department of Colorectal Surgery; The Skirball-Kenis Chair for Colorectal Diseases (USC); President of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons; President of the International Society of University Colorectal Surgeons; and in numerous leadership capacities for academic appointments and corporate boards. Dr. Beart is responsible for bringing the Colorectal Surgery Institute to Dignity Health Glendale Memorial Hospital.
