Eating Disorder Program

The Adolescent Medicine clinic provides an outpatient, multidisciplinary eating disorder program for both males and females, specializing in the treatment of anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa.

A board certified adolescent medicine specialist, Dr. Chantay Banikarim, manages the medical aspects of the disease and a psychologist provides intensive individual and family therapy, an essential component of treatment.

One-of-a-Kind Eating Disorders Program

St. Joseph’s Adolescent Medicine Clinic is the only outpatient eating disorder clinic in the Valley that has both an MD and psychologist on staff. We believe in:

Individualized Approach
St. Joseph’s Adolescent Medicine Clinic offers individualized treatment for adolescents with anorexia nervosa, bulimia, overeating, or fears of eating/swallowing/vomiting.

Continuum of Care
St. Joseph’s offers care through the beginning with assessment, diagnosis and then treatment. Collaboration and ongoing communication with the patient’s primary care provider is instrumental for a smooth transition after treatment is complete.

Ongoing, Intensive Therapy
St. Joseph’s Adolescent Medicine Clinic provides a psychologist for our patients with eating disorders, as well as for other issues including depression, anxiety, grief, substance abuse, and family conflict. Ongoing therapy is available for patients and families.
