Many patients choose Dignity Health because we are committed to providing a kinder, gentler hospital stay, and you get to be a BIG part of that. Junior Volunteers serve during the summer in many areas including:

  • Transportation
  • Information Technology
  • Copy Center
  • Information Desk
  • And other areas as needed

Who Volunteers?

The Junior Volunteer Summer Program begins the week of June 10, 2019 and runs for 6 weeks through July 19, 2019.

The program is designed for high school students between the ages of 14 through 17 years old, who are interested in exploring careers in health care. This popular program is a great way to develop new skills, meet new people, observe caring professionals, and better compete for college scholarships.

What is a Typical Day?

At Dignity Health, Junior Volunteers help with various tasks around the medical center, including helping in the nursing areas, answering phones at the information desk, assisting with miscellaneous office duties, making patient beds and helping visitors and patients get around our campus. This experience offers the opportunity for teens to gain self-confidence and improve their communication skills, while making a difference in people’s lives.

Health Care Career Exploration

Students will get a glimpse into the many health care professions and hear first-hand from Dignity Health doctors, nurses and other medical professionals about what it takes to succeed in the health care industry.  We encourage you to participate in this four hour session in addition to your 24 hour summer commitment.

Volunteer Scheduling

Students are placed in service areas based on the needs of the hospital as well as availability. Minimum requirement for the program is 24 hours during the 6 week period.
