We offer an assortment of health & wellness classes and special events to suit your health fancy.
St. Joseph’s Medical Center provides Mental Health First Aid courses to the community and does not charge for the instruction. There is a nominal cost per person for materials that are provided by the National Council for Behavioral Health. Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. This training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.
There are two class options available:
Mental Health First Aid is for adults working with other adults such as employers, police officers, hospital staff, first responders, faith leaders, active community members, and caring individuals. For more information click here.
Youth Mental Health First Aid is a class for adults working with youth such as teachers, school staff, coaches, camp counselors, youth group leaders, parents, and other caring adults working with youth. For more information click here.
The minimum size for this class is 5 participants up to 10 participants and are conducted either via Zoom or a blended version which contains online self-paced learning followed by an in-person 5 hour course. Calling all 14–17 year olds to join the YOLO Group!
There is one life to live, and St. Joseph’s Medical Center wants to see youth live their best lives! The world is full of challenges and situations that are often difficult to overcome, so that’s why we’ve developed a new teen program. In just eight sessions, the YOLO Group will provide youth with tips, tools and skills to help them cope with life’s daily stressors.
