Togetherness and Bonding

The Dignity Health Family Birth Center is committed to
providing the best care to moms and their babies.

Family Birth Center

Welcoming a baby into the world is one of life's greatest joys. St. Joseph's Family Birth Center is happy to help you usher in your new little bundle of joy and get them off to a healthy start.

Maternity Care

At St. Joseph’s Medical Center, our way of caring for you and your baby is designed to encourage togetherness and bonding, to teach you baby care skills, and support you in those first important hours after the birth of your child. We call our method “Mother-Baby Care” because our doctors, nurses and other members of our childbirth team provide care for both you and your baby together.

Our birthing center features:

  • All private patient rooms with private bathrooms and showers
  • Sleeper couches and flat screen televisions in each room
  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
  • Two operating rooms specifically for Cesarean sections
  • Separate waiting area for families
  • Hostess to take meal orders at the bedside
  • Freshly baked cookies delivered each afternoon

As San Joaquin County's FIRST Baby-Friendly Hospital, we focus on giving breastfeeding mothers the information, confidence, and skills needed to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies. The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative is a global program to encourage and recognize hospitals and birthing centers that offer an optimal level of care for breastfeeding.

We also offer a series of free prenatal & parenthood classes to help you get prepared for the big day.

Our goal is to make your arrival to our facility as smooth as possible. We encourage you to pre-register, so that you can save time and be better prepared for your visit to our facility. Pre-register by completing our online form or by calling our Admitting and Registration Office at (209) 467-6470 or (209) 467-6304.
