Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program

I am proud and excited with the development of the Child Psychiatry Residency program (CAP) here at St. Joseph Medical Center located in Stockton, California. Our CAP faculty members are dedicated, collaborative, and with the goal for each fellow to successfully work toward mastery in all areas of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. St. Joseph’s mission is to improve health, especially for the vulnerable, focusing on compassionate care, advancing justice, and honoring human dignity, guided by values like Compassion, Dignity, Justice, and Integrity, striving to be a trusted partner for life with a strong community focus.

This program provides a strong learning environment with the bedrock being a vast patient population of diverse psychopathology.  This allows the Child fellow to train with clinical understanding of developmental contexts, family systems, and social justice that is core to the educational needs of the developing child psychiatrist. It is our underlying mission to train competent and compassionate Child Psychiatrist to practice in Central Valley California which is an identified Mental Health Professional Shortage Area.

As a Child Fellow, your training will emphasize teamwork, mutual respect, and wellness while you rotate through multiple clinical sites to hone in on your professional skills as you become a Child psychiatrist. Congratulations on choosing this meaningful, enriching and much needed career!
