St. John’s Presents Free Healthier Living Program for Those Living with a Chronic Health Condition

Join our health educators during this six-week course to learn how to improve your well-being

OXNARD, CA, July 3, 2018 – St. John’s Regional Medical Center (SJRMC), a Dignity Health hospital is pleased to announce Healthier Living, a self-management program that will feature tips from our dieticians and physicians, on education and resources for anyone living with heart disease, cancer, diabetes, or other illnesses. Family members and caregivers are also encouraged to attend.

This free, six-week program is designed to provide those affected by these illnesses, with tools to improve their health one step at a time. The program begins on Thursday, July 12, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in the South Oxnard Senior Center (200 E. Bard Rd. in Oxnard). During this first meeting, participants will receive in-depth detail about the program sessions and corresponding dates.

“We are fortunate enough to have valuable resources that we can share with our class participants, as they discover a well-being path,” said Suzanne Soppe, RSM, Health Educator at St. John’s Regional Medical Center. “Our goal with this program is to help anyone with a chronic health condition to have a more productive, healthier lifestyle.”

Enrollment in Healthier Living will cover the following:

  • Dealing with issues (frustration, fatigue, pain, and isolation)
  • Exercising for strength, flexibility, and endurance
  • Medication and treatments
  • Effective communication with loved ones and health professionals
  • Meal planning
  • Evaluating new treatments
Space is limited, guests are suggested to reserve their spot by calling (805) 988-2865. Class registration ends July 9, 2018 - enrollment is required to attend the class.
