St. John's Regional Invite You to the Ventura County Heart Walk

The American Heart Association and St. John's Regional Medical Center, a member of Dignity Health, invite the community to join us for the annual Heart Walk on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Ventura Harbor, 1878-1998 Spinnaker Drive in Ventura. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the Opening Ceremony starts at 10 a.m.

The 5K walk/ non-competitive run encourage healthy habits while raising funds to support the American Heart Association’s research and education efforts to fight heart disease and stroke – the nation’s No. 1 and No. 5 causes of death. Before the walk, participants are encouraged to explore the expo area, which includes a Kid Zone, educational booths, heart-healthy food, and health screenings. Registration for the 5k walk is free. Walkers who raise a minimum of $100 are eligible for a Heart Walk Prize T-shirt.

The annual Ventura County Heart Walk raises funds for research and initiatives that promote prevention, treatment, community outreach and better patient care in areas related to heart attack, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases. The American Heart Association is dedicated to building healthier lives free of heart disease and stroke. Heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases claim more than 831,000 lives every year. The AHA’s goal is to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent while reducing deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent by 2020.

The 2016 Ventura County Heart Walk is sponsored nationally by Subway. The local “My Heart. My Life” sponsor for Ventura County is St. John’s Regional Medical Center, a Dignity Health Hospital of the Central Coast.
