Redding, CA. - April 1, 2019 - The North State has endured numerous disasters within the last year impacting thousands of families, including children. During the Carr Fire, Dignity Health North State played a significant role in serving the communities impacted and will continue to plan, prepare, and respond to disasters.
We have reached out to all aspects of our community, including school administrators, law enforcement, EMS personnel, medical personnel, and public health have been invited to learn about pediatric emergency planning and medical response considerations in order to better serve this part of our community in a time of need.
A report by the National Commission on Children and Disasters identified a training gap for emergency responders, first receivers, and emergency management personnel that reduced their effectiveness in responding to pediatric patients and their unique needs/considerations. This training addresses pediatric emergency planning and medical response considerations through a combination of lectures, small group exercises, and a table-top exercise.
This training is FREE for first responders and fully funded through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) a branch of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and is being presented by staff from Texas A&M Engineering Extension Services (TEEX).
During the training, the following topics will be discussed:
