Longtime physician leader named new hospital President and CEO
Grass Valley Calif. (February 7, 2022) – Today Dignity Health announced Scott Neeley, MD, FACP as the new President and CEO of Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital effective March 6, 2022. Dr. Neeley has served as Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Stockton since 2013. In his role, he also served as the Medical Director for Palliative Care and played a key part in the development of graduate medical education programs at the Medical Center, assuming the role of Designated Institutional Official for Graduate Medical Education from 2019-2021.
“I have had amazing opportunities to grow at St. Joseph’s Medical Center over what has been nearly a decade of service and am now honored to build upon that expertise to serve Grass Valley and nearby communities," said Dr. Scott Neeley, Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital President. “As a physician, providing the highest quality care while keeping our patients and employees safe, is a top priority. I am committed to continuing to advance the amazing legacy of this community hospital.”
As the executive leader for graduate medical education at St Joseph’s Medical Center, Dr. Neeley helped to establish a clinical learning environment in which patient safety, clinical quality, compassion, and professionalism form the foundation for learning and professional development. In this role he directed both clinical and educational efforts towards the achievement of the organization’s common purpose; the delivery of exceptional care with dignity and humankindness.
“Dr. Neeley understands our mission and the unique complexities of operating a rural community hospital and brings with him a bold vision to ensure that Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital is well-positioned for the future,” said Dr. Todd Strumwasser, Northern California Division President for CommonSpirit Health. “We are excited to have Dr. Neeley join and enhance what is already an outstanding leadership team and I am confident we will quickly benefit from his experience, knowledge and passion.”
A graduate of Harvard University, University of London, Stanford University School of Medicine and, later in February, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Dr. Neeley completed his residency and fellowship training at the University of Chicago Hospitals and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, Critical Care Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine.
