Pharmacy Practice Residency Program

An exciting ASHP-accredited residency program committed to innovation, excellence and leadership within an integrated health system, the Mercy General Hospital / Mercy San Juan Medical Center residency is based at two hospitals that are part of a system that includes five hospitals and affiliated physician/managed care groups. Residents gain experience in varied pharmacy practice settings across the continuum of care. Residency rotations include inpatient areas (internal medicine, intensive care, cardiology, emergency, neurology, oncology, infectious diseases, NICU, pediatrics, transitions of care, and trauma) primary care (anticoagulation, geriatrics and drug affordability [PRICE] and MTM). Residents also serve as preceptors for fourth-year pharmacy students.

Mercy General Hospital is a 342-bed hospital with large and high quality programs in cardiology and cardiovascular surgery. Mercy San Juan is a 370-bed medical center with a comprehensive stroke and trauma program. Both hospitals are accredited stroke centers. The hospitals are located in northern California, near Lake Tahoe and less than two hours from San Francisco and Napa Valley. Pharmacy and medical staff have appointments at local universities.
