Pulsed Field Ablation - Revolutionizing the Treatment for Atrial Fibrillation

Our commitment to exceptional patient care drives us to continuously invest in groundbreaking treatments. We're proud to be among the first healthcare systems in California to offer Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) a revolutionary approach to treating Atrial Fibrillation (AFib). This cutting-edge technology reflects our dedication to providing the best possible outcomes for our patients.

What is Pulsed Field Ablation?

Pulsed Field Ablation is a new, revolutionary, minimally-invasive treatment for AFib. It uses high amplitude electrical pulses to eliminate the cells in the heart that drive and cause AFib.

How is Pulsed Field Ablation different from other forms of ablations to treat AFib?

Other forms of ablation include minimally-invasive catheter ablation using heat (radiofrequency) or cold (cryoenergy) or the more invasive surgical ablation. While catheter-based techniques share many similarities, PFA stands out by utilizing electrical pulses instead of heat or freezing energy to eliminate the cells responsible for AFib. This unique approach is by far safer for patients and sets PFA apart as a groundbreaking treatment option.

What are the benefits of Pulsed Field Ablation?

PFAs offers many benefits, including:

  • Less chest pain
  • Less side effects from the procedure
  • Less time under anesthesia
  • Faster recovery time

"PFA is revolutionary because it's far safer than the traditional forms of catheter ablation to treat AFib."

–Dr. Arash Aryana, Medical Director, Cardiovascular Services
