Having achieved Level II Trauma Center verification from the American College of Surgeons continuously since 1997, Mercy San Juan provides specialized care to seriously injured patients through prompt access to trained physicians and staff and specialized services, including orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, anesthesiology, emergency medicine and radiology, all available 24 hours a day.
Trauma is an injury caused by external force applied to the body. Car crashes, falls, and violent acts such as shootings and stabbings are common traumatic injuries. Traumatic injuries can be life threatening and they are the leading cause of death for people under age 44 and a major cause of long-term disability.
