Serving the Community
Congratulations on the newest addition to your family and on your decision to breast–feed. It’s one of the best decisions you can make for the health of your new baby, now and throughout his or her lifetime.
To help get the two of you started the right way and make breastfeeding a positive experience, Dignity Health’s Community Hospital of San Bernardino’s caring staff is here to help. We invite you to visit our Health Education Center to meet with one of our specially–trained lactation consultants who can assist you with any questions, concerns or support you may need.
Our lactation staff is available:
Mondays, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Based on the mother’s need, the Lactation consultant may give the mother a manual breast pump and send a referral to Ameda for an electric breast pump, for participating insurance companies. Call 909.806.1816 for more details.
Babies are born to be breastfed. Learn normal newborn behavior and what to expect. We cover breastfeeding basics, strategies for success and how to avoid complications. This class is included in the Prepared Childbirth 3-week series or may be taken by itself.
The newborn portion of the class will give you the opportunity to practice diapering, bathing and dressing your newborn on life-like dolls. Instant safety and normal growth and development will also be discussed.
There is a $10 fee. Participants must pay in person at least 1 week before the class starts with Cash, Check, or Money Order.
Please call 909.806.1816 for more information.
