Occupational Therapy works on improving independence in daily living activities such as self-care, home management, returning to work or school, resuming leisure activities, returning to driving and/or community mobility, assessing the home, recommending assistive equipment, and caregiver instruction. Occupational therapy may also work to improve the function of the arm and hand, mobility for daily living tasks, vision, perception, and cognition for successful performance of daily life tasks.
If you’ve been diagnosed with stroke, brain tumor, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and neuromuscular disorders (e.g., multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, ALS, Guillain Barre), neurological rehabilitation may be able to help.
We create treatment plans that may include improving motor function, balance, mobility, vision, perception, cognition, swallowing, speech and language, activities of daily living, adjustment and coping strategies, assistive equipment recommendations, wheelchair and seating systems, home modifications, family and caregiver instruction.
If you need inpatient rehabilitation after a stroke or as a result of a neurological condition, Dignity Health’s Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento offers an Acute Rehabilitation program to help you develop the skills needed to return to a life of independence.
