The Sisters of Mercy Clinical Pastoral Education at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center

Chaplaincy is the desire to be of unconditional service to others in addressing their spiritual, emotional, and mental concerns at their time of greatest need. As a chaplain you will listen compassionately and guide empathically. The CPE program at St. Joseph places an extreme focus on and a resolute commitment to our approach to holistic care. Our doctors and clinical teams treat the disease, injury, or illness. But surgical procedures, therapies, and medications alone are not a complete - holistic - solution. Medical teams treat the patient. Chaplains treat the person. Our chaplains provide spiritual care, guidance, and support to our patients, their families, and our own staff members regardless of their faith or beliefs. Chaplaincy is not a job. It is truly a calling. If you are called to serve, your ministry starts here..
