Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging

Dignity Health East Valley Residency pledge on diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging

Welcome to our Dignity Health East Valley Emergency Medicine Residency Program!

At DHEV EM, we are committed to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion in everything we do. We believe that a diverse team of residents and faculty enriches our learning environment, enhances patient care, and strengthens our community.

We recognize and celebrate the unique backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences that each individual brings to our program. We are dedicated to providing equal opportunities for all residents to thrive, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or socioeconomic status.

Our commitment to DEI extends beyond mere words; it's ingrained in our curriculum, policies, and practices. We actively promote diversity in our recruitment efforts, strive to create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for everyone, and continuously work to address any barriers to success that may exist.

As a resident in our program, you'll have the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions, participate in DEI initiatives, and contribute to a supportive and respectful learning environment. Together, we will challenge biases, confront inequities, and champion diversity in emergency medicine.

We invite you to join us on this journey as we work towards a more equitable and inclusive future in healthcare.

We embrace our diverse community and celebrate our differences

Diversity and inclusion are central to our mission to serve everyone in our community. Dignity Health’s core values – compassion, inclusion, integrity, excellence, collaboration, stewardship, justice, and excellence – champion a diverse, accepting, and welcoming healing environment. At Dignity Health, we embrace our diverse community and celebrate our differences. We respect human dignity in every interaction with each other and with the individuals and communities we serve.

It is the policy of Dignity Health not to:

  • exclude, deny benefits to, or otherwise discriminate against, any participants, beneficiaries, applicants, and employees, including sensory-impaired persons;
  • do so on the grounds of race, color, national origin, disability, age, sexual orientation or gender identity and expression; and
  • do so in admission to, participation in, or in receipt of the services and benefits of any of its programs and activities or in employment therein.

We uphold this policy whether carried out by Dignity Health directly or through a contractor or any other entity with whom Dignity Health arranges to carry out its programs and activities.

Dignity Health is a secular health system affiliated with CommonSpirit Health. With a history rooted in kindness, our mission is to deliver compassionate, high-quality, affordable health care to everyone in our community.
