Another 'A' grade for Dominican for preventing errors, infections, and accidents

SANTA CRUZ, CA (October 31, 2017) – Dignity Health Dominican Hospital has again received an “A” grade from the Leapfrog Group, recognizing a commitment to preventing errors, infections, and accidents that can harm patients. Leapfrog, a nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety, and transparency in the U.S. health care system, released its Fall 2017 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades today, which assign A, B, C, D, and F letter grades to hospitals nationwide.

“Everyone on staff at Dominican Hospital is committed to patient safety – it is our number one priority,” said Nanette Mickiewicz, MD, Dominican Hospital president. “Providing safe, compassionate care for the Santa Cruz community is the core of our mission and I am proud of our physicians and staff, who bring their best every day.”

Developed under the guidance of a Blue Ribbon National Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 27 measures of publicly-available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public.
