Saint Francis earned "High Performing" ranking in Hip Replacement

SAN FRANCISCO (August 24, 2020) — Saint Francis Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce that it has been recognized as “high performing” by U.S. News & World Report in the category of Hip Replacement in its 2020-21 Best Hospitals rankings.

“This honor is a testament to the teamwork and dedication of our nurses, staff and physicians, who strive to deliver the highest quality, safest care to our patients,” said David Klein, MD, MBA, Saint Francis Memorial Hospital President and CEO. “We are so pleased to be recognized for the expert and compassionate care these teams provide to our community.”

To create the annual Best Hospitals list, U.S. News & World Report conducted a rigorous national assessment of data from nearly 5,000 medical centers and survey responses from more than 30,000 physicians to rank hospitals in 16 adult specialties including cancer, cardiology, diabetes, rheumatology and more. Survival rates, patient experience, specialized staff and advanced technologies were among the factors weighed. Nationally, only 134 hospitals ranked in at least one of the specialties in 2020-21.

The annual rankings and ratings are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for common elective procedures, as well as challenging health conditions. Rankings are based largely on measures such as patient outcomes, nursing quality, and other clinical indicators.

This recognition is the latest of several Saint Francis Memorial Hospital has received recently. Saint Francis recently received honors from Healthgrades as a Five Star Recipient in the areas of Heart Failure, Chronic Pulmonary Obstructive Disease, Sepsis, Total Hip Replacement, Esophageal/Stomach Surgeries, and Treatment of Stroke. Additionally, Saint Francis received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Stroke Gold Plus Award and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll award earlier this month.
