About Endometriosis

One in 10 women in the US may suffer from endometriosis. It’s a painful condition that can have a huge impact on a women’s quality of life. It can be difficult to diagnose since its symptoms are similar to other illnesses.  As a result, doctors can misdiagnose this disease for a number of years before getting the correct diagnoses and treatment.1

Our team of experts specialize in endometriosis which is a condition that commonly involves the female reproductive system, ovaries, Fallopian tubes, uterine surface, pelvic area, and small intestines.

The tissue (endometrium) that normally lines the inside of the uterus grows outside the uterus and continues to thicken, breakdown and shed with each menstrual cycle. Unlike the menstrual tissues that form monthly inside the uterus and expelled during the monthly period, this endometrial tissue has no exit and can irritate, form adhesions, and damage surrounding healthy tissues.

Saint Francis has the resources and expertise to help treat this painful condition.  Learn more about endometriosis and get information about our treatment options.
