Daryn Kumar, MBA, FACHE, Named President of Dignity Health’s Saint Francis Memorial Hospital and St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (December 11, 2020) — Dignity Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Daryn Kumar, MBA, FACHE, as President of Dignity Health’s Saint Francis Memorial Hospital and St. Mary’s Medical Center, both located in San Francisco, effective January 3, 2021. Mr. Kumar has been Chief Operating Officer at Dignity Health’s Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael, CA since February 2019.

Daryn KumarMr. Kumar has a strong reputation for acute care operations, strategic planning, measurable organizational accomplishments, and compassionate, patient-centered health care. He has a proven track record of building teams, services and facilities to drive growth, and in engaging in physician and physician group partnerships to develop and implement service growth in alignment with strategy.

“I am excited for the opportunity to be at the helm of Dignity Health’s two San Francisco hospitals, which are both deeply rooted in the city they serve,” Mr. Kumar said. “I’m impressed with each hospital’s eagerness to meet San Francisco’s emerging health care needs while delivering on Dignity Health’s mission to provide high-quality, affordable care delivered with compassion.”

Previous to joining Dignity Health, Mr. Kumar spent 14 years in different capacities at Sutter Health, most recently as the CEO of Sutter Memorial Medical Center in Modesto. Prior to that he served as the COO of Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento as well as COO of Sutter Roseville Medical Center. Mr. Kumar also previously worked at Doctor’s Medical Center in San Pablo/Pinole as an Assistant Administrator. Mr. Kumar started his career in healthcare as a Radiological Technologist in the United States Air Force and served a total of 16 years on active duty and reserve duty, prior to being honorably discharged.

Mr. Kumar holds an associate’s degree in radiological sciences from the School of Health Care Sciences, a bachelor’s degree from University of Phoenix, and a master’s degree in business administration from Saint Mary’s College.
