Spine & Neck Pain Treatment Options

The neck and spine surgeons at the Saint Francis Orthopedic Institute have training in the latest surgical technology. They use advanced surgical approaches to treat back pain and neck conditions with a focus on minimally invasive procedures. Minimally invasive surgery reduces the surgical trauma and pain you may experience as a patient, while speeding up your recovery.

Our neck and spine surgical team is nationally recognized for their expertise in treating spinal conditions including:

  • Compression fracture
  • Degenerative disc
  • Herniated disc
  • Scoliosis
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Spinal infections
  • Spinal tumors
  • Spondylolisthesis

A Wide Range Of Surgeries For Neck Pain And Back Pain

Depending on your diagnosis, our surgeons can use an array of advanced spine surgical techniques to treat your condition, including:

  • Artificial disc replacement—removing a painful disc and replacing it with a metal prosthetic implant
  • Foraminotomy—taking painful pressure off a nerve in the spine by widening the opening where the nerve root leaves the spinal canal
  • Kyphoplasty— treating compression fractures of the vertebrae by restoring height to each vertebrae and helping to relieve pain
  • Lumbar Laminectomy— removing a portion of vertebral  bone called the lamina to increase the size of the spinal opening, helping to relieve pressure and pain
  • Laminotomy—removing a portion of bone on both sides of the lamina to help keep the vertebrae more stable while relieving pressure on the spinal cord
  • Microdiscectomy—removing small amounts of bone that press on a spinal nerve root to help relieve leg and back pain; this procedure uses a special muscle-spreading instrument that reduces muscle damage and protects nerve roots and the spinal cord during surgery
  • Minimally invasive spinal fusion—using minimally invasive techniques to join two vertebrae with bone grafts, which stops motion at that point and helps to relieve pain.

We Treat Problems In All Areas Of The Spine

Lumbar (Lower Back) Procedures We Perform Include:

  • Laminectomy and laminotomy
  • Microdiscectomy
  • Anterior and posterior spinal fusion
  • Spinal instrumentation to implant devices into the spine for a permanent solution to spinal instability,
  • Partial or total corpectomy to relieve pain when diseased or damaged bone blocks or pinches nerve roots
  • Lumbar total disc replacement—

Thoracic (Upper Back) Procedures We Perform Include:

  • Anterior thoracotomy  or open chest procedure
  • Scoliosis (spinal curvature) correction
  • Spine osteotomy to treat spinal deformity
  • Surgery for herniated thoracic disc, to take pressure off the spinal cord and relieve pain

Cervical (Neck) Procedures  We Perform Include:

  • Anterior cervical disc removal  and spinal fusion (ACDF)
  • Cervical corpectomy—to relieve pain when diseased or damaged bone blocks or pinches nerve roots
  • Laminoplasty—to treat spinal stenosis by relieving pressure on the spinal cord
  • Posterior cervical laminectomy and fusion, removing bone between the vertebrae and so the vertebrae can grow together
  • Cervical total disc replacement
