Kim Brown Sims, MBA, RN, PHN, FACHE, NEA-BC, LBBH Named Chief Nursing Officer of Dignity Health’s Saint Francis Memorial Hospital and St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (December 15, 2021) — Dignity Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Kim Brown Sims, MBA, RN, PHN, FACHE, NEA-BC, LBBH as its new Chief Nursing Officer (“CNO”) for Saint Francis Memorial Hospital and St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco, effective Nov. 15, 2021.

Brown Sims comes to Dignity Health with over two decades of strong nursing and operational experience, including her most recent role as the Chief Executive Officer & Founder of KBS Leadership Consulting. Previous to that, Brown Sims served as chief nursing officer and/or VP of patient care services at several Northern California hospitals, including the CDPH’s Sleep Train Arena Alternate Care Facility (Sacramento), Queen of the Valley Medical Center (Napa), Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center (San Luis Obispo) and Sutter Memorial Hospital (Sacramento). Additionally, Brown Sims is active on non-profit and for-profit boards, is a national leadership speaker who is passionate about health equity, and performs leadership training both nationally and internationally.

In this new role, Brown Sims will be CNO at both Saint Francis and St. Mary’s, where leadership is increasingly focused on bolstering partnerships and alliances between the two Dignity Health campuses. “Kim brings a solid foundation of clinical nursing expertise coupled with a track record of innovative leadership and steadfast professionalism,” said Daryn Kumar, MBA, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer at Saint Francis and St. Mary’s. “Through collaboration across our two San Francisco campuses, we are elevating quality, safety and the overall patient experience."

Brown Sims received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at California State University Sacramento, and her Master of Business Administration, Strategic Leadership, magna cum laude, from Trident University International.
