Essential funding will go to vulnerable individuals in need

CENTRAL COAST, CA – April 14, 2020 – Dignity Health Central Coast hospitals have partnered to provide nearly $30,000 to the Santa Barbara County and San Luis Obispo County Food Banks during this time of critical need for local low income individuals, unemployed, and those experiencing homelessness.

The California Association of Food Banks serves all counties in California, and this essential funding will be used to support the mission to end hunger in the following ways:

  • The farm to Family program collaborates with farmers, packers and distributors annually, and is currently delivering emergency boxes statewide in response to the COVID-19 crisis.
  • The CalFresh Outreach program supports the 50+ community partners in their efforts to enroll eligible Californians, and has now engaged in COVID-19 response as the need for these benefits areises across the state.

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dignity Health Central Coast is proactively supporting vulnerable community members in need,” says Patty Herrera, Manager of Community Health, Dignity Health Central Coast. “As our mission to help the less fortunate, it is especially important during this time to provide crucial funding to our community partners.”
