Dignity Health Central Coast Aligns with Stanford Medicine to Expand Health Care Services

Affiliation will build on capabilities of local clinicians to enhance care for patients of Central Coast patients, closer to home

CENTRAL COAST, CA – December 9, 2020 – Dignity Health Central Coast and Stanford Medicine are pleased to announce a broad affiliation with the aim of enhancing health care for Central Coast communities.

The new agreement will build on the existing capabilities of Dignity Health Central Coast, Pacific Central Coast Health Centers, and the strong contingent of physicians and caregivers aligned with Dignity Health Central Coast’s service area in order to improve coordinated access to Stanford Medicine’s world-leading research and subspecialty care.

Stanford Medicine’s unique digital health solutions will play an important part in this collaboration, with the goal of empowering local physicians and meaningfully improving the ability to partner in the care journey of patients and their families. Patient care will be coordinated between Dignity Health Central Coast, Pacific Central Coast Health Centers, aligned physicians, and Stanford Medicine to ensure a more seamless experience, which will improve care, access, and services for patients and communities.

“With the health care delivery system we have developed throughout the Central Coast, this new master agreement with Stanford Medicine will bring advanced health care into our communities and expand our capabilities by offering innovative methods for improving the health and well-being of our patients,” said Chuck Cova, President and CEO, Dignity Health Central Coast. “We intend to remain at the forefront of health care and assuring our patients have access to the most advanced medical care in our service area.”

“With this partnership, Central Coast residents will gain access to specialty care physicians and services of Stanford Medicine — one of the nation’s leading academic medical centers — which will allow even more families to receive care closer to home,” says Scott Robertson, MD, Dignity Health Central Coast Chief Medical Officer. “Our affiliation marks a significant step toward the development and provision of innovative health care on the Central Coast.”

“We’re excited to broaden our relationship with Dignity Health on the Central Coast. Stanford Health Care has a long history of treating patients with complex needs from the Central Coast. As we enter a new phase of our relationship, we hope to extend the reach of our academic clinical care to serve this area with additional expertise, resources, and tools. By partnering with local physicians, Stanford Medicine is striving to provide the best possible care experience closer to home,” said David Entwistle, President and CEO of Stanford Health Care.

“It’s often difficult for families and their physicians to find the right subspecialties. A formal affiliation enables us to create more direct links and processes to efficiently guide patients to appropriate services, and to treat pediatric patients near their families as much as possible,” said Paul King, President and CEO of Stanford Children’s Health.

Added Dean Lloyd Minor, MD, Dean of the Stanford School of Medicine, “This collaboration fits perfectly with Stanford Medicine’s goal of bringing clinical research, advanced innovations in care delivery, and our overall academic mission into the community. We believe this makes Stanford Medicine stronger, too.”

Dignity Health and Stanford Medicine plan to share further details about the affiliation in the coming months, including information about specific clinical services, including oncology, heart health, neurosciences and more.
