French Hospital Medical Center Recognized as a Top 100 Hospital in the Nation by Becker’s Hospital Review

French is among only four hospitals in the state on the 2017 list

French Hospital Medical Center (FHMC) that is a part of the Dignity Health Central Coast network of hospitals that includes Arroyo Grande Community Hospital (AGCH), and Marian Regional Medical Center (MRMC), is pleased to announce that it has been included in the 2017 edition of the Becker's Hospital Review list of "100 Great Community Hospitals" in the United States.

This is the second time FHMC has received this prestigious award and is one of only four recipients in California honored. FHMC also received this award in 2015. Becker's Hospital Review is a monthly publication offering up-to-date business and legal news and analysis relating to hospitals and health systems. The Becker's Hospital Review editorial team selected hospitals for inclusion based on various rankings and awards.  Becker’s is an independent reviewer of data, and a hospital cannot pay for inclusion on the Top 100 list.

“This significant recognition is yet another validation of the unwavering commitment to quality care, patient safety, and customer service by our staff and our physicians to our community,” says Alan Iftiniuk, FHMC President & CEO.

FHMC continues to transform its hospital campus, including the completion of the Copeland Health Education Pavilion in fall of 2015 and the new Emergency Department expansion project planned for spring of 2018.

The hospitals featured on the 100 Top Community Hospitals list have fewer than 550 beds and minimal teaching programs. Some are suburban hospitals, but many are located in rural areas and are their communities' sole hospital. Becker's Hospital Review has published a version of this every year since 2011.
