French Hospital Medical Center to Offer Free Diabetic Education Classes

Series of community support groups will discuss Diabetes education and awareness

French Hospital Medical Center is offering a series of three Diabetes ConversationsTM Classes for those who have recently been diagnosed with Pre-Diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes, or those that need a refresher course on ways to better manage their Diabetes. French Hospital Medical Center (FHMC), which along with Arroyo Grande Community Hospital (AGCH) and Marian Regional Medical Center (MRMC), make up the Dignity Health Central Coast hospitals, will offer these classes on a series of three Wednesdays from 4-5:30 p.m. Classes will cover the following topics:

May 10, 2017 - “On the Road to Better Managing Your Diabetes”
May 17, 2017 - “Healthy Eating for Diabetes”
May 24, 2017 - “Monitoring Your Blood Sugars”

The objective of these classes is to empower patients to better manage Diabetes and find support in the journey. The classes are designed to be informative and  interactive for small groups. Classes will be held at French Hospital’s Copeland Health Education Pavilion in the Idea Incubator Lab, Room 216 on the second floor.

These community classes will be led by Angela Fissell, MS, RD Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and are free of charge and open to the public. Participants should plan to attend the ongoing sessions and will receive follow-up support and education upon request. Individual support is available per request. Class spaces are limited.
